Android ImageUsing Your TCU Mobile ID

You do not have to open the wallet to use mobile credentials, but the screen should be awake! Lay your phone flat on the reader and wait for the reader’s light to change color. If you have access to the door, the light will turn green, and you will hear the door unlock, just as it would with a physical card. Should you encounter a reader with a keypad, hover or touch the back of the phone to the keypad. Ensure NFC is turned on by going to your device’s Settings. Android devices can vary in the placement of the NFC antenna. Tap the top of the phone to the reader. If this does not work, tap the back body of the phone to the reader. Some devices require the user to log in to the GET Mobile app once daily to utilize the Mobile ID.

The TCU Mobile ID in Google Wallet is a TCU initiative where your compatible Android device replaces the functionality of a physical TCU ID card.

For now, both the physical ID and the Mobile ID will continue to work. However, TCU is moving toward a mobile-first approach for campus credentials, and the TCU Mobile ID will become the primary form of identification. We encourage you to begin using your mobile credential as soon as possible. The university plans to complete the transition to Mobile ID as the main credential by Fall 2026.

We understand that some individuals may still need a physical card. Requests for exceptions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Please contact the ID Center for more information.

Yes, your TCU Mobile ID can be used even if your Android device does not have network connectivity, as the TCU Mobile ID is stored on your device.

All Android phones that have NFC are supported. Android watches are not supported at this time. You cannot have the TCU Mobile ID on both an Android and an Apple device.

You will need a compatible Android device with the following:

Tap Settings > Android Settings > Google > Settings for Google Apps > the Google Wallet.

  1. Please note that Android devices can take up to 1 minute to successfully complete the “Setting up…” step when provisioning the credential.
    1. If after 1 minute, provisioning is still on “Setting up…” step:
      1. First, completely close the GET and Wallet apps by swiping up from the bottom of the screen (or tap the square/recent apps button), find the app, and swipe it away.
      2. Second, re-open the GET and Wallet apps to see if the ID has been successfully provisioned.
        1. In the GET app it will show “ID added to Gpay” just under your photo
        2. In the Wallet app it will show “Setting up…” message.
        3. If both are true, Mobile ID is ready for use.
  • If the above steps do not work, proceed with the following steps.
    1. Disable Wi-Fi and verify you have a strong cellular connection.
    2. Remove ID from Wallet, uninstall GET app, and re-install GET app
